EMT-PLUS™ - The Newest Online EMS Training to Receive CECBEMS Approval
EMT-PLUS™ - The Newest Online EMS Training to Receive CECBEMS Approval

By Bobbi Gearhardt, RN, BSN, EMT-P, EMSI

The Emergency Medical Technician Practice, Learn and Use System© (EMT-PLUS™) Portal on-line EMS Continuing Education (CE) courses and interactive games are available to members.  These have been designed and developed by JXT Applications, Inc. under the guidance of Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Paramedics (EMT-P) and EMS Instructors.  The courses have been reviewed and approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) for Continuing Education Hours (CEHs).  Current course and game offerings include:

Courses

Weapons of Mass Destruction/Hazardous Materials = 5 CEHs

Mass Casualty Incidents = 3.5 CEHs

Trauma Emergencies = 5 CEHs

Medical Emergencies = 5 CEHs

Infectious Diseases = 4.5 CEHs

Games

Triage (from Mass Casualty Incident) = 0 CEHs

Medical Emergency (treatment of injuries from MCI) = 0 CEHs

Continuing Education Hours from CECBEMS approved courses are accepted by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), most state EMS agencies and Boards of Nursing for recertification purposes.

JXT recognizes the difficulty that most career and volunteer EMS personnel experience when attempting to meet the ever-increasing recertification requirements due to time constraints and scheduling difficulties which often exist with in-department training.  We also recognize that EMS personnel often have multiple personal and job-related commitments which must take priority; sometimes resulting in a mad rush to complete needed Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) at the last minute before recertification applications must be filed.  EMT-PLUS™ courses are designed to allow EMTs (Basic, Intermediate and Paramedic) to complete training at any time and any where they have access to the Internet.  On-line support is available from the EMT-PLUS™ system administrator to assist with technical problems or other issues that may arise while taking a course.

EMT-PLUS™ will grow and be refined over time as additional courses and related training materials are developed that address other critical issues that EMTs must face in the course of their jobs.  The EMT-PLUS™ web portal provides you the opportunity to have input into the topics, content and delivery of those future courses.  Please provide us your valuable input to help make this site and these courses a better and more valuable resource for EMS CE.
